The Weeping Siren Mini Story:
Scorned from a distance, the siren weeps.She doesn’t weep for the sea anymore but for those washing up ashore without names or families to identify them. Above her, ships pass quietly. They are carrying those deciding who belongs and who is taken away. Traces of lives remain in their wake. Once admired for her difference and contributions to the sea, now punished for it, the siren hides her face in shame, horror and sadness.
This hard enamel pin is an allegory for our current moment: voices labeled dangerous, families torn apart, and entire communities controlled through fear. Like the siren, many are condemned not for what they’ve done, but simply, who they are.
